From Bucharest to London – Welcome to the Gallium Ventures team Patricia!

Exciting times as we grow as an organisation, we are therefore delighted to welcome Patricia to the Gallium Ventures family.

In a nutshell, I’m a Communications professional, with over 12 years experience in Public Relations, Journalism and Publishing.

I’m originally from Romania, where I started my career as a journalist (features editor for Dilema veche, one of the oldest and most influential newspapers in the country, and contributing editor for Forbes Romania).

After almost four years, I shifted to PR when I joined RAN Communications, a boutique PR agency based in Bucharest. As a PR Manager and then PR Director, my focus was on public relations, brand strategy, media relations and content creation. I managed communications activities, projects and events for a part of the agency’s portfolio, while being Account Manager for top companies in fashion and retail (Pandora), and entertainment (Cinema City Romania and Forum Film Romania).

In Autumn 2019, I relocated to London in search of new opportunities and challenges. For the last 20 months, I was part of the London PR & Digital team of Veolia UK, the leading resource management company.

Joining Gallium Ventures came as a very natural next step, at just the right time. It only took one meeting with Heather to know that I am ready for a new and exciting (Gallium Ventures) adventure!

  1. What’s your favourite animal?

The tiger.

  1. What’s your favourite time of the year and why?

One of my happiest and strongest childhood memories is spending Christmas with my parents (while I still believed in Santa!). I really do feel it’s a wonderful time, and I love bringing family and friends together. I also love the food, the presents, the cheesy films, the carols, the fairy lights, decorating the tree – the magic is real!

  1. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Pizza. Pizza. Pizza. It’s not the most original answer, I know, but… have you ever had delicious pizza? It’s great for brunch, lunch or dinner; you can pick and choose from so many toppings; you eat it when you’re happy, excited, sad, alone, with friends.

  1. Tell us something that very few people know about you…

I don’t know how to ride a bike (yet!).

  1. Cheese or chocolate?

Tricky question… I do like cheese. A lot. But, as a self-confessed chocoholic, I must say… I absolutely LOVE chocolate.

  1. What campaign from the past year really captured your attention and why?

Ah, the looong year of the pandemic. The year that gave a new meaning to ‘challenging’, on all levels. There have been plenty of cool, interesting campaigns I’ve enjoyed seeing, especially when brands adapted to the ‘new normal’ in a very smart and creative way, with campaigns such as IKEA’s ‘Stay Home’ or Uber’s ‘Thank You For Not Riding’. However, a PR campaign which I’ve adored is the #GettyMuseumChallenge – using items you find in your home to recreate famous works of art. A dear friend of mine from Bucharest brought this to life in Romania too, as we put together a mini-campaign for it – #RamanTablou – Lockdown ends, art goes on.

  1. What brand do you feel has grown in the past 12 months in the stories they tell?

I found it very interesting to see how COVID-19 forced brands and companies to change their narratives. For me, the most impressive and powerful storytelling growth has been the one created around key workers – from the NHS staff and carers, to supermarket workers or waste workers. All the unsung heroes who’ve been keeping the country running finally had a bit more of the recognition and appreciation they deserved. It’s only sad that it took a global pandemic for this to happen.

  1. What gets you most excited about working in PR?

When working in PR, no two days are the same, which makes most days exciting, juggling clients and projects, smiles and tears and everything in between. But above all, for me it’s this precious commitment of being a ‘keeper’ of a brand – from generating awareness to protecting its reputation, to building trust and strengthening relationships.

  1. What are you most looking forward to as you join Gallium Ventures?

I am immensely excited about joining the Gallium team, as I am looking to develop further, both personally and professionally, in an environment that nurtures us not only as hard-working employees, but as humans of different backgrounds and cultures, with all our hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
